We’re slowly getting settled into our new home and I can’t wait to show you all the details! But this weekend was Cinco de Derby AND our first weekend in Charleston, SC so we had to do a bit of celebrating!
We ate lunch at The Taco Spot, a local Charleston taco joint to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Just yummy tacos – no margs this time around, we still had some unpacking to do after all!
But when dinner rolled around I was craving a delicious drink so I got a bit creative and made my first mint julep – with a twist! Introducing: the peach mint julep!
First we rounded up our supplies.
Muddle mint leaves & peach. I created a pureé of sorts to add to the drink.
Originally, my plan was to make simple mint juleps but then I saw Sallie’s Greatest Simple Syrup in Peach + Mint… and well, the rest is history!
From there, I added the important stuff… you know – the alcohol! So… remember how I said we were just settling in? Weeeellll… that also means we have lots of unpacking to do still. I didn’t have measuring cups, shot glasses or any other means of measuring exactly how much I put in so I just eyeballed it.
I LOVED making our very own peach mint juleps & they tasted amazing. As the night went on they got a bit stronger but they were so much fun! Let us know if you made your own & what your “secret ingredient” is!
